Whenever, wherever, Shakira's bold sense of style is going to make a statement.
And it appears the "Hips Don't Lie" singer took that sentiment quite literally during a recent outing in France.
While attending the Viktor & Rolf's Paris Fashion Week show on July 5, Shakira donned a stark white trench coat from the brand's 2008 collection that featured the word "NO" emblazoned in large letters across her chest. The design also included silver zippers and gold trim embellishments, as well as a coordinating belt.
The 46-year-old clearly let her ensemble do all the talking, as she paired the ensemble with minimal accessories such as brown-framed sunglasses, gold platform heels and a matching handbag. As for her beauty style? She opted for a soft glam vibe, rocking a rosy makeup look and straight hair.
While Shakira's message was clear, she didn't share the inspiration behind her fierce look. However, it does come off the heels of her People en Español cover story, in which she opened up about processing her split from Gerard Piqué.
Shakira, who shares kids Milan, 9, and Sasha, 7 with the sports star, explained that she was dealing with the breakup around the same time her father William Mebarak Chadid was hospitalized.
"Everything happened at once," she shared in an interview translated from Spanish. "My home was falling apart. I was finding out through the press that I had been betrayed while my dad was in the ICU."
Although the "She Wolf" artist's dad has since recovered, it was a "very hard and slow" journey.
"He has overcome COVID once, two accidents, one pneumonia and five surgeries—all of this at 91 years of age, in less than six months," she noted. "My dad is the biggest example of resilience, and my mother has been by his side day and night. They have both been a reflection of that dream that didn't come true for me. But I hope they are role models for my kids of love, of patience in relationships, of absolute devotion and zest for life."
Shakira and Gerard announced their breakup in June 2022 after being together for more than a decade. And while the Grammy winner has been candid about dealing with heartbreak, she's also grown from the experience.
"This has been a year of seismic change in my life where I've felt more than ever and very personally what it is to be a women," she said at Billboard's Latin Women in Music gala on May 6, per Billboard. "It's been a year where I've realized, we, women are stronger than we think, braver than we believed, more independent than we were taught to be."
